For our full-time Key Teacher positions we require an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Key Teacher
Overview
The primary responsibility for this role is to plan, implement, and supervise a program of activities for the total development of children in accordance with the philosophy of the school. This includes maintaining an orderly learning environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
Qualifications
Minimum requirement - BA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or closely related field
Experience in Early Childhood Education
Ability to relate well to young children and adults
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, crouch, crawl, climb stairs, and engage in other physical activities with and in support of children
Responsibilities
Work a full-time 40-hour work week unless otherwise arranged and approved by the Director (must work at least 35-hour week)
Plan activities for individual and group needs
Set individual professional goals and update as appropriate
Perform self-assessment using the Staff Evaluation Form
Regularly attend team and staff meetings/planning times
Establish rapport with children and parents
Observe children’s participation within the school setting
Set individualized child goals and update as appropriate
Develop and update written records on individual children for whom you are responsible
Work with parents toward mutual goals
Keep parents up-to-date on their child’s daily activities and progress via written notes and informal conversation
Prepare conference worksheets with input from other team members
Schedule and lead formal parent conferences a minimum of twice per year
Follow through on plans developed for and at parent conferences and communicate with parents on the status of goals for their child
Maintain confidentiality with regard for children and families
Understand and follow TDC’s policies and procedures, including those in the Employee Handbook and on The Discovery Center website
Perform other duties as assigned
