Pre-K at TDC

TDC’s Pre-K classroom serves children ages 4 to 5 and is designed as a natural extension of the skills students develop in our preschool classrooms. In Pre-K, children continue strengthening foundational skills with an emphasis on structure, independence, and confidence. (If your child will be under the age of 4 on the first day of school, we offer a preschool program for ages 2.5 to 5.)

As children grow, they are supported in taking on longer and more complex activities, following multi-step directions, and participating in group settings similar to those found in elementary school. Students practice following routines, managing responsibilities, and participating in a classroom environment that encourages them to become capable, independent learners.

Our Pre-K classroom maintains the same attention to relationships and social development that is present throughout The Discovery Center, while offering increased opportunities for shared problem-solving and independent task completion.

Families stay closely connected through ongoing communication with teachers, who provide insight into their child’s growth, developmental progress, and individual goals.

Our Pre-K program reflects The Discovery Center’s belief that children learn best when they have a strong foundation of support while being encouraged to take on new challenges as they prepare for kindergarten.
