A Time for Giving
Happy November, families!
We would like to introduce Delilah, our new key teacher in the Red Room. Delilah graduated from Eastern Michigan University in April. She comes to us with 3 years of experience as an assistant teacher and looks forward to working with the Red Room teaching staff as she gets to know our students and families. “I’m excited to teach the kids and watch them learn and grow!” Please join us in welcoming Delilah to The Discovery Center!

Classroom Highlight
This month we’re highlighting the Orange Room. Cheryl, Chelsey, Hien, and Mya brought their love of nature into the classroom by creating their very own pumpkin patch for their students! Students had a fun activity of loading pumpkins into wheelbarrows to push around the room and use cash registers to ‘purchase’ their pumpkins. It was a creative way to bring real life activities into the classroom.
Giving Tree
Each year, TDC partners with Peace Neighborhood Center to help provide holiday gifts to families in need. You’ll be receiving a list of suggested items before fall break and we’ll be collecting the gifts under the TDC holiday tree the first 2 weeks of December. This is a great opportunity to teach students about the importance of giving to others.
Being Thankful
During the month of November, classrooms will be spending time talking about giving thanks and being thankful. I want to take this opportunity to thank you and your children, as well as the TDC team, for welcoming and supporting me during my transition from head teacher in the Blue Room to director of the center.
I’m truly thankful and grateful that you trust The Discovery Center team to teach your children every day. I look forward to watching your students learn and grow in the coming year.
